Patch Testing Guide

Patch tests are an easy way to help predict if your client will have a negative initial reaction to a new product.

It is recommended to perform a patch test before incorporating a new product into your routine.

We have outlined a general method for conducting your own patch test based on the type of product.

Apply a small amount of the product onto a clean area of skin on the upper forearm and keep the area dry.

After 24 hours rinse the area, If any redness, burning, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test, do not use the product.

Although rare a reaction can occur during treatment your client mentions any odd sensations or severe redness remove the product and use a cold compress on the area.

How To Use

Application:

  1. Pour Oil into Hands: Dispense a moderate amount of Warm Amber Massage Oil into your palms. Avoid pouring the oil directly onto the client’s skin.
  2. Warm the Oil: Rub your hands together to warm up the oil, ensuring it reaches a comfortable temperature.

Technique:

  1. Initial Contact: Place your hands gently on the client’s back or the area to be massaged, allowing them to get used to the touch and temperature.
  2. Spread the Oil: Use broad, smooth strokes to spread the oil evenly across the area you plan to massage. This is often called the "effleurage" technique and serves as a warm-up for the muscles.
  3. Deep Tissue Work: Once the oil is spread, proceed with your specific massage technique—be it Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, or another method. The Warm Amber Massage Oil is versatile and ideal for various techniques.
  4. Pressure: Maintain a consistent and comfortable level of pressure. Always check in with the client to ensure the pressure is to their liking.
  5. Reapplication: If needed, apply more oil to your hands, warm it by rubbing your palms together, and continue the massage. A little goes a long way; avoid using too much to prevent a greasy feel.

Finishing Up:

  1. Final Strokes: Conclude the massage with lighter, soothing strokes similar to how you began.
  2. Clean Up: Use a clean towel to gently remove any excess oil from the client’s skin.
  3. Hydrate: Offer the client a glass of water to help rehydrate and flush out any toxins released during the massage.
  4. Gather Feedback: Ask for any feedback or areas for improvement for future sessions.
